Hrithik, Salman Are Asia's SEXIEST Men!

Hrithik Roshan, who topped the Sexiest Asian Men list of Eastern Eye Weekly last year, came out on top in the weekly's annual list for 2012 as well.

The actor, who had a blockbuster of a beginning this year with his film Agneepath raking in over Rs 100 crore at the box office, will be next seen in yet another high profile film -- his home production Krissh 3.

A suitably surprised Hrithik responded to his win, 'I am extremely humbled at the decision of the public, also a little embarrassed as I just can't imagine myself as sexy! I'm actually someone who's just trying to get by with his battered, bruised and broken tools. So a big thank you to all for this dose of encouragement!'

No war with SRK that I know of: Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan returns to the silver screen with his first big role in three years with the suspense drama Talaash which opens in theaters worldwide this Friday on November 30. The award-winning actor and producer spoke about his latest movie and career. He opens up about Talaash, how it was working with Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji, whether he is a perfectionist, his take on the "3 Khans" phenomenon, and more.
Ques: Do you gravitate towards movies about social messages?
Aamir: Not all of my films have social messages. You might have seen Delhi Belly, I don't think there was any social message in that. Or Fanaa, or Ghajini, no social message. Those are emotional stories or love stories. It's not true that I only do movies with social messages. I do films that excite me. I do films that touch my heart and move me. They may or may not have a social message. But that's not why I am doing films. I'm doing a story because it touches me.

Ques: What is Talaash about?
Aamir: It's essentially a suspense drama. The reason why I chose Talaash and the reason that it attracted me was because not only is it a great suspense story where when I heard the script I couldn't tell what was going to happen next, it's also an exciting story and it held that suspense for me. But at its heart it's a story about coming to terms with loss. It's a very emotional story at its core. And each one of us has either lost somebody close to us or we are afraid of losing someone close to us. So losing somebody close to you is a reality for all of us. That's how life is. So here is a film which apart from being a suspense drama is a film which helps you, perhaps, to come to terms with loss.
Ques: How did you like working again with Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherji?
Aamir: It's been great working with both of them. Both are very fine actors and both are very good human beings. I get along really well with both of them. It's great fun to work with both of them. When you work with a good artist there is a certain chemistry that you share which makes a scene come alive. You have a certain give and take and that helps your own performance. I think that happens with Rani and Kareena and they're both fantastic actresses and people will really enjoy seeing the two of them together in the film.

Ques: The press always writes about the "3 Khans" and your interactions with each other. Why is it an important news story?
Aamir: I don't get the importance. Is there a war between me and Shah Rukh right now? Not that I know of. So it's of no consequence to me. I hope Yash-ji's film gets every success it deserves and more. Yash-ji passing away is a big loss to all of us. I'm hoping this last film of his has a deep impact on everyone. And I wish all the best to Salman who has a film coming out at Christmas. So I'm hoping both films do well. I'm hoping Talaash does well also.

Ques: Are you happy with your string of successes?
Aamir: Filmmaking is a tough job. I am fortunate that for the last so many years my films have been doing well and people have been liking my movies. I'm very fortunate and grateful for that. I'm happy that the right projects have come my way. I got to work with some really talented writers and directors, as a result the films have turned out the way that they have. Filmmaking is a team effort and the director plays a very important part, the writer plays a very important part. But along with that there is the cameraman, the sound engineer, the music composer, lyric writer, other actors - so many people come together to make a film. So when a film does well, it's a result of the team doing good work. So I'm fortunate to have worked with talented people.

Ques: Are you a perfectionist?
Aamir: I don't think I'm a perfectionist. I don't think anyone can be. I do enjoy my work and therefore I work with a lot of love and care and I don't leave any stone unturned from my side. I don't think anything can be perfect, especially in the creative field. There's no such thing as perfect. In the creative field it's all about what the vision of the director is and what happens organically in that moment. In another moment, that same thing will happen differently. That's the reality of creative work. So there is no such thing as perfection in creative work.
Ques: Do you follow box office figures for your films and does that drive you?
Aamir: At the outset, I am not looking at figures. Figures I look at in retrospect. They help me gauge how well a film of mine has been received. It's one of the yardsticks that helps me. But that's not the only yardstick and certainly it's not something I keep in mind when I'm selecting a film. Had I kept the figure in mind, then I never would have made films like Lagaan. These films went on to become very successful, but at the outset there were not any logical reasons for them to do big business. So there's Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Sarfarosh, Taare Zameen Par - all of these films I would have never done if I thought "oh, I have to do 100 crore." All of these films take up a fair amount of my time, even if I'm not acting in them. So I'm the last person to look at figures at the outset.
And numbers don't tell everything. Even if a film does huge business, you can ask people how did you like the film and seven out of ten may say "hmmmm, timepass." You can take another film which has done one-fourth the business and eight out of ten say "what a fantastic film!" So numbers can be deceptive. What success means to me is that when we as a creative team sit down before it releases, do we feel we succeeded in making what we set out to make? How close have we come? Ideally, success is when you are happy with what you have made.

Ranbir Kapoor To Share Screen Space With Shah Rukh Khan In Karan Johar Flick?

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been known as the Baadshah of Bollywood whereas Ranbir Kapoor is known as the Crown Prince and now, it seems that the two might come together for a Karan Johar flick.

Sources claim that Johar, who is directing a period romance next after Student Of The Year, had asked Shah Rukh Khan to lead the cast and was keen to have Ranbir on board too. However, it seems that though Ranbir has not turned down the offer, he is still taking his time as he is not so sure about being a part of a two-hero project at this stage in his career.

Ranbir, who was last seen playing a Chaplinesque character named Murphy in Anurag Basu's Barfi!, will be next seen romancing his former flame Deepika Padukone in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.

Rajkumar Hirani's Aamir-Anushka starrer PEEKAY on schedule

Raj Kumar Hirani  is shocked with number of rumours floating about the film being delayed or him not working on PEEKAY anymore.

And what's interesting is this while all this is being spoken and written about, Rajkumar Hirani is busy doing recce of locations in Delhi. Rajkumar Hirani's second unit has already started shooting on schedule almost 15 days back.

The entire schedule was that the second unit would shoot in October and November. And actual principal shooting or photography with talent would start in mid-January. As Raju sir wants to capture the early winter of Delhi.

CHECK OUT: Filmmaking for Raju Hirani is not a business

Says Raj Kumar Hirani, "I have been on location hunt in interiors of Rajasthan and Delhi. Songs are being recorded for PEEKAY. All my energies are focused on the film. Nothing has changed. I wanted to capture the winter of Delhi and that's when we start shooting. We are on schedule."

Adds Raj Kumar Hirani, "Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma will join the shoot by mid January. We would be announcing a young dynamic actor in the second lead in a week's time."

Young girls like to star opposite me, but I like older women: Shah Rukh Khan

It was a working Eid for Badshah Khan, in New Delhi to unveil Tag Heuer's India Racing Limited Edition Chronograph. The actor admitted that he was not very driven by Formula One, though impressed with the Buddh racing circuit and the cars.

He said he got confused with the noise in the circuit. But admitted that the late Ayrton Senna was his favourite, and he had seen his last race.

So who did he hope would win the India leg? "Jenson Button is my man," he said. And regarding Micheal Schumacher, Badshah Khan said that he is one of the few people like Sachin Tendulkar whom you never ever want should retire, they should keep doing what they do best.

But sports apart, the actor said he was one person who didn't like being controlled by time, except when he was present for his TAG Heuer events. Numbers restrict him, be it the number game in bollywood or the number slots actors are put like 30 crore, 100 crore , 150 crore. But even though he may avoid numbers, trade pundits are already slotting a 200 crore mark for Jab Tak Hai Jaan.

Shah Rukh Khan laughed and said, "See again they are restricting my creativity, but jokes apart it doesn't matter I make movies because I believe in them am not driven by numbers, truly."

But why is it even before his movie is released battle lines are drawn, its SRK vs the rest of them? "You know am just tired with these so called battles or whatever you may call them, I make a movie or am part of project because I have faith in it, I give it my all that's it. I just focus on my project and am not concerned with what's happening around me, but it's okay I may matter to people if they create a good or bad hype around my movie, I must matter to them," he said.

Getting emotional about his soon to be released Jab Tak Hai Jaan, a movie which is special in more ways than one. Shah Rukh Khan narrated an incident related to the movie which he holds close to his heart. "You know my father used to tell me you should visit Kashmir with your father, in the sense, it's the place of my forefathers so if you visit it you must have your father with you. But my father passed on, and I didn't get an opportunity to shoot there till Yashi ji told me lets go we are going to Kashmir for Jab Tak Hain Jaan, I was surprised but thought of my father and said great am going to paradise with a father figure. Yash ji after canning the last shot with me on the jeep in Kashmir said, "Bas Shah Rukh , ab ho gaya". I said, "kya", Yashji said, "Ab main film nahin banaunga". I said, "Yeh kya bol rahe ho aisa nahi ho sakta", to which Yashji said, "Ab waqt hogaya", he hugged me and we both wept. We are very emotional people Yashji and me. But today when I look back to the incident I wonder Jab Tak hain jaan isn't just a film for me it's much more than that. I don't even know what to say about the film. Even if people ask me about Katrina or Anushka, what do I say. I don't know how to answer anything about the movie," Shah Rukh Khan said.

So, on a lighter note why are his heroines getting younger with each passing film? "The young girls like me and I like older women. Hahhaaa see I have the best.. guys just joking."

21 year and 70 films the Badshah of Bollywood says he is still unsure, but we are sure that if there is a king of hearts it's you King Khan.

Karan is the star of SOTY: Mukesh Bhatt

Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt is highly impressed with Karan Johar’s “Student of The Year” (SOTY) and says he is the real star of the film.

“It’s a blockbuster. If you have to give the trophy to someone, then it has to be Karan Johar. Hats off to him for making such a good and a big film with newcomers. So if you ask me, the star is Karan Johar,” the 60-year-old said here Thursday at the premiere of SOTY.

He believes the film is going to change the landscape of the industry.

“This film will change the landscape of the industry, I can assure you. The new generation is going to take over and thank god. High time new generation comes and takes over,” said Bhatt.

Bhatt is Alia Bhatt’s uncle, who debuts with SOTY. Talking about her, he said, “Alia is my ‘bacchi’, so it is a very touching moment for me to see this kid blossom into such a beautiful flower.”

At the same time, Bhatt is highly impressed with Varun Dhawan and Siddharth Malhotra too.

“If you tell me to give marks, then I will give all three of them 100 out of 100 and this is not a diplomatic statement. All three of them are wonderful,” he said.

“Student of The Year” hits theatres today.

Look who's giving tips to Uday Chopra for DHOOM:3

Shooting for an action movie is a gruelling task. The stunts, fights and races can be quite exhausting. Uday Chopra has found an innovative way to relax between takes, all the stunts and action.

Recently, Uday was spotted on the sets of DHOOM 3 engrossed in reading Dhoom, not the script but his own YOMICS graphic novel, Dhoom Redux 893!

Ever since its launch in July early this year, Uday Chopra's passion project YOMICS has been talk of the town. YOMICS has already launched graphic novel titles such as Dhoom Redux, EK THA TIGER (With two issues: Saving the High Seas & Caught in the Web) while also reintroducing readers to the ever popular HUM TUM. Uday has also launched a brand new title, Daya Prochu, which has quickly become a favourite amongst readers. He is extremely passionate about the medium of comics and endeavours to bring this art and form of entertainment back to the mainstream to help excite and entice existing and a new generation of readers.

Was not aware Shah Rukh Khan was offered Talaash role: Aamir Khan

Despite ruling the box-office with hits like 3 Idiots, Taare Zameen Par, actor Aamir Khan still feels the pressure of delivering his best but insists that he did not let it affect him.

"There will always be pressure which is good as people expect more from me. But it is scary too. I try that this pressure does not come my way," Aamir told reporters here at the music launch of his upcoming film Talaash.

About donning khaki uniform in the film, something that other actors like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar did in films like Dabangg, Singham and Rowdy Rathore, he said, "I don't think I am competing with anyone of them. Though Salman, Ajay and Akshay have played the roles of a cop but my role is different. It is not an out-an-out entertaining film in that way but I liked it and agreed to be part of it."

"I did not have to prepare for my role in this film much. I did that when I played a cop in Sarfarosh. I feel no role is easy," he said.

Reema Kagti's Talaash, a suspense drama, stars Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in the lead alongside Aamir who feels the two were apt for the roles they have played in the film and he cannot choose who is better. Kareena plays the role of a sex worker while Rani plays Aamir's wife.

The music of the film was released today at a suburban hotel though the event was earlier supposed to take place at the city's famous red light area -- Kamathipura. But the makers felt it would not be appropriate.

"That was one of the ideas but then we felt it would be insensitive to do so. We don't want to use anyone's misfortune to our benefit," Aamir said.

Talking about Aamir, director Reema Kagti said the actor provided creative inputs for the film.

"Aamir has given creative inputs. I appreciate that. He was quite respectful of my vision. He tried to bring his best. And with Kareena and Rani also in, it was a dream cast," Reema told reporters.

Aamir was also all praise for Reema. "I have worked with lady directors in the past including my wife, Deepa Nair and now Reema.. it is always great to work with them. It is irrelevant whether the director is male or female. She is perceptive of performances, I was guided a lot by her. I saw her demanding as well as open, I could trust her instincts," he said.

There were reports that earlier Shah Rukh Khan was to play the role of Aamir. When asked about the same, Reema said, "I would not like to talk about things that did not work out. This happens in films. I am happy with main and secondary cast of Talaash."

When asked about it, Aamir was clueless that Shah Rukh was approached for the role that he played in the film. "I was not aware who was offered the film."

The film releases on November 30.

'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' soundtrack has passion and romance

Jab Tak Hai Jaan music review: Music Director: A.R. Rahman; Lyricist: Gulzar; Singers: Rabbi Shergill, Shreya Ghoshal, Mohit Chauhan, Raghav Mathur, Shilpa Rao, Harshdeep Kaur, Neeti Mohan, Javed Ali, Shaktisree Gopalan, and Shah Rukh Khan; Rating: ***

Veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra has stepped into the director's shoes maybe for the last time, which makes Jab Tak Hai Jaan a very special movie. With Shahrukh Khan, the King of Romance, in the lead, the music raises lot of expectations. Mozart of Madras A R Rahman has composed eight original tracks and one reprise version, while Gulzar has penned the lyrics.

The soundtrack starts off with "Challa", a soothing number sung by Rabbi Shergill, which mesmerises you to the core. The sound of guitar and drums coupled with Rabbi's distinct voice is a total bliss, while the lyrics are easy to the ears. Musically speaking, it is fine melody and minimal experimentation that strike the right chord.

It is followed by 'Saans', which is like a trademark romantic song, reminiscent of Yash Raj Films. The duet sung by Mohit Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal is deep with good use of instruments like flute and violin. But in terms of composition, Rahman could have produced a better track. It's definitely not the finest from his ensemble, and fails to impress beyond a point.

It also has a slower reprise version, a solo by Shreya Ghoshal. It's not bad but that's all one can say about it.

"Ishq Shava" is an interesting track that fuses Arabic and techno sounds combined with the versatile voices of Raghav Mathur and Shilpa Rao. There is a good use of instruments like the oud, the mandolin and the saz to get the desired effect. Rahman's melody is a fine listen indeed and peppy beats grow on the listener.

"Heer" crooned by Harshdeep Kaur recreates the eternal Mirza-Sahiban romance with the heart wrenching lyrics by Gulzar. The song is surely the high point of the album and takes you to the land of Punjab. Rahman has composed a beautiful piece of music that just bowls you over.

"Jiya Re" is an upbeat song that lifts up your mood with its racy tune and energetic vocals by Neeti Mohan. The sound is youthful and one appreciates the interlacing of flute and strings that uplifts the tempo.

Next up is the title track. "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", starts as a slow romantic track with the voice of Javed Ali, but changes track once the tabla is introduced. Shaktisree Gopalan enters and after a while but there is just something amiss here. Maybe in a bid to make it sound different, the composer went a bit haywire here.

It's followed by the instrumental piece "Ishq Dance", which reminds you of "Dance of Envy" from "Dil To Pagal Hai" that became quite popular.

However, in term of music this one is not at par with its predecessor.

Rounding up the album is "Jab Tak Hai Jaan Poem" penned by Aditya Chopra with a soulful rendition by none other than SRK. It does manage to make way into your heart.

Overall, the music rides high on romantic flavour and tries to capture different emotions surrounding love with resounding success. There are some flaws here and there, but they can be ignored while looking at the larger picture.

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger fetches Rs.75 crore for satellite rights

The buzz doing the rounds in Bollywood is that the satellite rights of upcoming Salman Khan biggie Ek Tha Tiger have fetched its producers Yash Raj Films a whopping Rs.75 crore. This is the biggest amount ever that a Bollywood film has fetched for screening on television.
Reports say Yash Raj had already finalised the deal to sell the TV rights of Ek Tha Tiger to Sony about a year ago, when the film was still being shot.
It now emerges that Sony, who have a tie-up with YRF for all their films, has agreed to pay the astronomical sum because they feel they would recover more than the invested amount through commercials.
Trade sources say advertisers are apparently willing to pay unheard- of sums to buy spots during the television premiere of the film later this year.
Ek Tha Tiger is slated for a big screen release on August 15. The Independence Day this year falls on a Wednesday, and the makers of the film want to cash in on a festive first week that will also include Eid. While nothing is confirmed on when the film will be telecast, the buzz is that Ek Tha Tiger could premiere on TV around Diwali.

Why Aamir Khan delayed Talaash release

Actor Aamir Khan has pushed the release of his upcoming film, Talaash, to concentrate on his maiden TV show, Satyamev Jayate, after a fire broke out on the latter’s sets in January this year. The psychological thriller directed by Reema Kagti is now likely to hit theatres only towards the end of

the year.
Aamir’s initial plan was to launch his show around May before getting involved with the promotions and subsequent release of the film. “We faced a major setback when the fire broke out on the sets in Madh Island. We had to rebuild the entire set. As a result, Satyamev Jayate has been delayed,” says Aamir, adding that the show will now start around June.
If the makers of Talaash had stuck to the original plan of releasing the film on June 1, the projects would have clashed, which is something Aamir didn’t want.
“Talaash is a special film for all of us including Farhan (Akhtar), Ritesh (Sidhwani) and Reema (Kagti). After my TV show’s delay, we discussed the matter and felt that we should give the film the clear window that it deserves. Now, we might release Talaash on November 30 or December 7,” explains Aamir, who turned 47 on Wednesday.

After last year’s flow of romantic movies like First Love, Kohi Mero this year director Suresh Darpan Pokharel is planning a new romantic movie tentatively titled Three Lovers. This generation director who started his career with Nishana, Suresh plans to bring a love triangle with lot of suspense with three lovers. His forthcoming movie ‘Miss U‘ has already generated a ‘hit’ buzz in the fraternity and media. Produced by actor friend – Dilip Raymajhi, Miss U is scheduled for this year’s August release.

Director Pokharel is already working on the script of Three Lovers, which will be produced by Belgium NRN – Prince Shrestha. He plans to shoot some parts of the movie in Belgium also accommodating Nepali Diaspora. Currently he is in talks with various actors to play the lead roles for Three Lovers. One of the male lead might be played by Aryan Sigdel, while he is still in search for the female lead that could fit the bill. Meanwhile, the music for the movie has already been started. Despite being romantic movie, the director plans to include not more than four songs in the movie. Babu Bogati has already worked the music for one song.

Cocktail movie receives a grand opening

Cocktail had its Grand Premiere in Delhi on Thursday followed by which the cast and crew were hounded with compliments. The exclusive preview shows, held in Mumbai were completely housefull, after such an amazing response at the premiere and preview all tickets at theatres are already booked for the weekend.
People are in love with the movie for its freshness and brilliant locations and clothes. Audiences cannot stop raving about the stars, the music and the dialogues. The concoction between the three and the subtle bond of friendship is what the fans love the most in the movie.
Talking about the performances in the movie we hear the new look Saif donned for the movie was highly appreciated. For Deepika Padukone the sun is shining bright as some bet it is her finest performance.  Last but not the least, new comer Diana Penty has made her mark as a young fresh debutant and has won appreciation for her work. Apart from the three main characters Boman Irani and Dimple Kapadia were loved by all on screen. Dimple Kapadia plays the perfect mother for a mischievous and quirky Saif in the movie.
The romantic comedy is a perfect precise package of all emotions put together. It has a mix of all three characters and completely justifies its name, it’s a perfect Cocktail. This twisted tale of Veronica, Gautam, and Meera has had a great opening at the box-office and is sure to grow over the weekend.

I am so happy to know that “Highway” Nepali movie is nominated under the panorama fictional films section in 62nd Berlin Festival. It’s a milestone to Nepali Film Industry. The story goes like this: a man from Kathmandu and his wife have been trying unsuccessfully to have a child. The man travels to the mountains of eastern Nepal to seek help from a miracle healer. The healer indeed has a magic potion for him but tells the man he must get back to his wife within thirty-six hours for the medicine to work. The bus that winds its way through the narrow streets, hills and valleys of Nepal is full of people who all need to be somewhere else in a hurry – to meet an internet chat lover, bring someone some money for medicine, or to visit their parents. But the travellers are obliged to stop again and again on account of general strikes, traffic jams, breakdowns and angry villagers. Some of these obstacles are overcome by the passengers themselves, who get to know each other during the trip they even dress up as a wedding party in order to be allowed to keep moving. Meanwhile, at home, everything has changed.
Deepak Rauniyar’s first feature-length drama is a road movie that is full of surprises and passion; it is also an unflinching portrayal of life in Nepal today.

Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, who has been busy with his TV show Satyamev Jayate, will soon begin shooting for Dhoom 3 by the end of this month.

According to a report in Times Of India, Aamir will shoot his scenes in Chicago, because the producers want to keep his look a secret. Aamir is already training with Jackie Shroff's son Tiger to get that perfect look for his villainous role in the movie. (Read: Aamir Khan training with Jackie Shroff's son for Dhoom:3)

Uday Chopra, who was also in Dhoom and Dhoom 2 has already begun shooting and tweeted: "Today (Friday) Dhoom 3 officially begins with a pooja at YRF (Yash Raj Films)... for me, it begins with a killer leg workout. Guess that's my pooja."

APABAD

Our Nepali Cinema is definitely at a stage of transition. 2012 will undoubtedly be the year of diverse cinema; be it love, family, drama and action, all of the genres are covered. Here is 'APABAD', another film to watch out for which will soon be hitting theatres near you from the 20th of April. The movie which has been directed by Subash Koirala stars two young actors who have been successful in creating a name for themselves in a short amount of time, Raj Ballav Koirala and Nisha Adhikari. Enough of the blabber, below is a short synopsis, a note from the director and few exclusive stills from APABAD.

My take, APABAD looks unlike the films that we are seeing currently in Nepali cinema. The stills and visual look feeds off a feeling that this is a film that will test the audience to think... to use our brains... whether that will be the case of the final product, I don't know. I predict this is a movie that will take the audience on a ride through the journey played out by Raj Ballav Koirala. His rough look has got many talking, maybe we'll see some award worthy performance. Let's wait till the 20th April.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari Movie Review

Comedy, the underdog, cricket and Raju Hirani – these are the things we absolutely love in Bollywood movies. And when we get them together in a single film, well it’s definitely a treat for us. Ferrari ki Sawaari is Rajesh Mapuskar’s  sweet take on the middle class and their dreams.
Kayo (Ritvik Sahore) is a talented kid who wants to be the next Sachin Tendulkar. His father Rustom (Sharmam Joshi), an RTO clerk, is a doting father who strongly believes that children learn what they see and hence always remain honest and follows the law. That’s until a training camp at Lords for the top players is announced. Sure that Kayo will be selected on the basis of his merit, Rustom doesn’t want his son to be deprived of this opportunity just because of his inability to pay the fees. A chance encounter with a wedding planner who must get a Ferrari for a corporator’s son’s wedding makes him choose between his principles and his child’s dream.
Rajesh Mapuskar’s Ferrari ki Sawaari has a very Hirani feel to it. Although Rajkumar Hirani has just written the dialogues – which are very simple and witty like they usually are – you feel a Munnabhai hangover to it. Even then, Mapuskar and Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s screenplay is full of sweet heartwarming moments filled with clean humor. And yes, sentiments and emotions. The story does get a little manipulative with the audience’s emotions, particularly in the second half which is why latter part of the movie gets a bit difficult to digest. It’s the characters though that are the life of this movie. Ritvik Sahore as Kayo is a very promising lad who portrays a very believable character of a son idolizing his father. Very few Bollywood movies actually provide child characters which are not too sweet or over-smart or plain irritating. Sharman, who has his first solo in the movie, plays a very simple guy caught between his son’s dreams and his father’s frustrations. Sharman’s character has a smile on his face throughout the movie, showcasing that no matter what, Rustom always believes that there’s a solution to every problem. Although his character graph is very inconsistent, and a bit unbelievable, he still makes for a very sweet lead. But the best no doubt is Boman Irani as Deboo who absolutely shines in his performance. Many might argue that being a Parsi himself, the character came naturally to him but the way he portrays the nuances of his character you connect with him and feel his anger and frustration. The scene where he meets his friend after 35 years is just brilliant.
The side cast is impressive too. There are a host of Marathi actors who play quite a few characters in the movie like the corporator and his family or Sachin’s help (Aakash Dabhade) and the watchman (Deepak Shirke) who provide the fun moments in the movie through their respective tracks. Satyadeep Mishra as Kayo’s coach and Seema Bhargav as the loud Punjabi wedding planner are good too. Paresh Rawal is amazing his in cameo as Dilip Dharmadhikari, Deboo’s old friend.
Ferrari ki Sawaari assures an entertaining ride throughout although it is more bumpy than it should have been. Nevertheless, such clean, heart tugging movies are fewer to come by which is why I would ask you to not miss it. I am sure the kids will love this Sawaari!

Aamir hopes 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' beats '3 Idiots' success

Mumbai, June 15 (IANS) Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani starrer 'Ferrari Ki Sawari' hits the theatres Friday and Aamir Khan hopes that the film does so well at the box office that it beats the success of their movie "3 Idiots".
"I am here to wish the entire team. I am sure they have made a good film and Sharman is a nice actor and our wishes are with them. We want everyone who watched '3 Idiots' to watch 'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' also. We wish that this film goes far beyond '3 Idiots'," the 47-year-old said here Thursday at the premiere of the film.

'Ferrari Ki Sawaari' is Rajesh Mapuskar's directorial debut and has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra.
Rajkumar Hirani, who has edited the film, stated that the intention was to make a film for under Rs.100 crore.
"The film has not been made with the intention of crossing the Rs.100 crore mark. If that had been our intention, we would have been making at least one film a year. I take three years to make a film. If money was the intention, then every year we would have been making two films," said Hirani.
"Ferrari Ki Sawaari" tells the story of a father who will go to any length to fulfil his son's dream of becoming a cricketer.

Shah Rukh Khan finds it difficult to shoot in public

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is having a tough time shooting in London for Yash Chopra's film with Anushka Sharma. Since most of the scenes are being canned on the streets, crowd control is a cause of major concern.

In fact several fans have been following SRK's every move from the hotel where he is staying.
Due to the crowd, shooting is posing to be tough for the cameramen and the sound engineers.

Though adequate security measures are being taken to keep the crowd at bay, it is often resulting in stopping of the shoots.
As a result shooting of the film is taking place at a very slow pace, but nothing can be done as it is the demand of the script to shoot on the roads.

'Shanghai' gets mixed response at box office

New Delhi, June 10 (IANS) Dibakar Banerjee's "Shanghai" has opened to critical acclaim and mixed response at the box office. Trade pundits predict that the political drama will collect Rs.16 crore in the first three days of its release.

Made on a budget of Rs.19 crore, including marketing and promotion, "Shanghai", according to Banerjee, broke even before its release through the sale of its satellite and music rights.

The director also said that he had to recover only Rs.4.75 crore from theatrical release to be profitable, but with Rs.16 crore earnings, it is already a profitable venture.

Distributed by PVR Pictures, the film has been released with 1,200 prints and after witnessing a slow start on the first day, it picked up on the weekend.

"Friday was a little slow for 'Shanghai', but the movie picked up on Saturday and Sunday. We are expecting better response in the week ahead. Due to its serious nature, its more of a multiplex kind of film," Anant Verma, director and business head, DT Cinemas told IANS.

Rajesh Thadani, Multimedia Combines, Mumbai told IANS that the film had 15 to 20 per cent occupancy Friday. "Saturday was still better but not the way we expected. There was not a major pick up on Sunday either," he added.

Described as a slice of today's India, "Shanghai", which released Friday, boasts of a host of talented actors - from Bengali superstar Prosenjit to Bollywood actors Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi and Kalki Koechlin.

"Multiplexes have got a good response but single screen does not have much bookings. Theatres in South Delhi and Gurgaon have got good footfall. Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh got an opening of Rs.1.20 crore," Delhi based distributor Joginder Mahajan told IANS.

Vinay Choksey of VIP Exhibitors, Mumbai, supports Mahajan and said: "I opened with 20 to 25 percent occupancy Firday. Today also there has been an okay response."

The film is getting a tough fight from Akshay Kumar's "Rowdy Rathore" as the audiences preferring it over serious "Shanghai".

"It's vacation time, families are coming together for 'Rowdy Rathore", they don't want to watch a serious film like 'Shanghai'," said Mahajan.

Sholay -- immortalised in 3D

Not too long ago, I read an inspiring compilation '16 Brilliant Movie Quotes from 16 Great Directors' on a blog.

Although every single declaration for cinema there is nothing short of a Lothario expressing crushing love for his beloved, this one quotation by Russian filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky resonated last Saturday afternoon when I attended a session of Cinema 100, a 3-day event to commemorate India cinema centenary at Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods International.

Tarkovsky says, 'Unlike all the other art forms, film is able to seize and render the passage of time, to stop it, almost to possess it in infinity. I'd say that film is the sculpting of time.'

I cannot explain the sense of awe and admiration I experience strolling through this 'sculpting' in a lingering corridor of posters, prints, facts and legends revealing carefully collected motifs of Hindi cinema's history.

Salman Khan Wants To Outdo Shah Rukh Khan

Buzz is that Salman Khan is trying hard to surpass the action quotient that archrival Shah Rukh Khan displayed in Don 2, with his upcoming Ek Tha Tiger.

The action sequences of the Farhan Akhtar film, shot at Thailand, were liked by one and all. Hence, Salman wanted something extraordinary for the action sequences in the upcoming Kabir Khanfilm, which has also been shot in Thailand.

A source from the film was quoted as saying, "Director Kabir Khan and his crew are doing everything they can to ensure the Thailand schedule gives them some great shots. Being a spy thriller, you can imagine the kind of visuals that Kabir will be able to capture."

Katrina Kaif turns a man for 'Dhoom 3'

The shooting of the much-anticipated Yash Raj flick Dhoom 3 is yet to begin and the juicy tidbits about the film are already whetting our curiosity.

The latest we hear is that Katrina Kaif, the film’s leading lady, will cross-dress as a man for a particular sequence. On the lines of the scenes from Dhoom 2, where Hrithik Roshan disguised himself in different looks, Dhoom 3 will have Katrina donning the guise of a man for a scene.

Going by this tidbit, it can be presumed that she plays a trickster in the movie. Aamir Khan, the film’s leading man, will also play a character with shades of grey. In fact, Dhoom 3 will reportedly have a showdown between Aamir Khan and Katrina in the film’s climax.

Katrina Kaif is presently busy shooting for another YRF film Ek Tha Tiger withSalman Khan. It’s only after ETT is wrapped up will the shooting of Dhoom 3begin.

The film will be directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the director of Tashan.

First Look: Cocktail

Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone iare all set to be seen in consecutive flicks this year - Race 2, and Saif's upcoming home production venture Cocktail.

Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone chemistry in the successful Love Aaj Kal (2009) seems to have impressed many! The duo is all set to be seen in consecutive flicks this year - Race 2, and Saif's upcoming home production venture Cocktail.

Shot in the beautiful locales of London and Cape Town, the latter movie is set around the complicated relationships among three friends - Gautam (Saif), Veronica (Deepika) and Meera (debutante Diana Penty). The plot is expected to take the audience through the evolving interplay of dynamics between love and friendship among the trio. Railers are already gathering a common opinion that hails the movie as not being your typical love triangle story; instead it is expected to show how the three together make an unusual and odd but enviable relationship.

Directed by Homi Adajania and written by Imtiaz Ali, the movie is scheduled to release on July 13. And we bring to you the very fun first look featuring Saif, Deepika and Diana having fun, looking great and enjoying life.
